Lesson plan
Introduction (10 mins.) T elicits from the Ss ways to say hello and goodbye in English. Development (20 mins.) T shows some flashcards of people talking and elicits from Ss ways to greet and say good-bye for each picture. Ss takes notes. T models appropriate responses to each greeting and have students repeat them. T drills the greetings and farewells as a class, paying attention to correct pronunciation and intonation. Consolidation (10 mins.) T divides the class into pairs and provide a list of different scenarios or contexts (e.g., meeting a friend, greeting a teacher, saying goodbye to a colleague). T instruct each pair to create a short dialogue incorporating greetings and farewells based on the given scenario. T allows Ss time to practice their dialogues. T asks some pairs to perform their dialogues in front of the class. Conclusion (10 mins.) T reviews the main greetings and farewells learned in the lesson and encourages Ss to continue practicing greetings and farewells in their daily interactions outside the classroom. Homework: Classify a list of expressions into Greetings or Farewells. Introduction (10 mins.) T hangs a world map on the board and asks Ss to identify and name a few countries they know. Development (20 mins.) T introduces the topic of countries, nationalities, and languages by asking Ss to read a short conversation. Ss must identify the countries, nationalities, and languages. T present a list of common country names, their nationalities, and languages, pronouncing each one clearly and encouraging Ss to repeat after T. T uses flashcards or pictures to associate country names with their flags and languages. Consolidation (10 mins.) T hands out a worksheet to each S and asks them to match countries and nationalities. Conclusion (10 mins.) T reviews the key vocabulary, focusing on correct pronunciation and usage. T conducts a quick quiz where Ss match country names with their nationality and language. For example: T: USA. S: People from USA are American. They speak English. Homework: Ss complete tables of countries with their capitals, nationalities and language. Then use maps to color the countries according to their flag colors. |
